STT GDC to Invest Rs 2,000 Crore in Two More Data Centres in Pune

STT Global Data Centres plans to invest nearly ₹2,000 crore in new Pune data centres. The facilities will come up within the company’s existing Dighi campus in Pune. The expansion will increase the campus capacity beyond 80MW of IT load. According to documents accessed by CRE Matrix, the investment reflects rising demand for digital infrastructure and large-scale data centres in India.

STT GDC Expands Pune Data Centre Capacity

STT GDC already operates one of India’s largest data centre campuses in Pune. The campus currently has three operational facilities with 40MW of IT load capacity. Two additional facilities are also under construction within the same campus. These projects will add another 40MW of IT load capacity. The latest expansion further strengthens Pune’s growing data centre market.

According to Sumit Mukhija, the new facilities may become operational within 12 to 24 months. The projects will launch in phases based on market demand. The Pune campus also has a dedicated 220 KV electrical infrastructure. The company stated that the campus can eventually support up to 140MW of IT load capacity. Future expansion plans also remain under consideration.

New Data Centres to Come Up on Tata Communications Land

The new data centres will come up on land leased from Tata Communications. The company secured nearly 1.20 lakh sq ft of land adjacent to its operational campus in Dighi. The lease agreement spans more than 20 years. Both data centre buildings will together cover nearly 6.50 lakh sq ft. The lease transaction was registered recently.

The company will reportedly pay over ₹315 crore in rentals during the lease tenure. Rental values will increase by 10% after every three years. The agreement also includes a 15-year lock-in period. The transaction reflects long-term confidence in India’s growing data centre sector. Demand for hyperscale infrastructure continues to increase across major cities.

India’s Data Centre Demand Continues Rising

India’s data centre market continues to grow across major cities. Rising digital usage is increasing demand for new infrastructure projects. Cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune continue attracting large investments. OTT platforms, online gaming, digital commerce, and 5G services are also driving higher data consumption. As a result, demand for modern data centres continues to rise steadily.

Government policies supporting data localisation are also boosting market growth. Industry experts expect faster approvals under upcoming data centre policies. Global operators continue expanding across India because of rising enterprise demand. India, therefore, remains a key growth market for data centre investments in Asia-Pacific.

STT GDC Strengthens India’s Digital Infrastructure Network

STT Global Data Centres currently manages more than 200MW of critical IT load capacity across India. The company operates 21 facilities across nine major cities. It also serves over 1,000 clients, including several Fortune 500 companies. The Pune expansion further strengthens the company’s position within India’s fast-growing digital infrastructure market.
